Three Grand Junction Police officers were involved in an officer involved shooting on Thursday, June 10, 2021. All three discharged their duty weapons during this incident.
Detective Tim Janda has been with the Grand Junction Police Department since 2005. Detective Janda has served as a field training officer and spent several years as a SWAT operator. Detective Janda currently serves as an intelligence officer for our Special Investigations Unit.
Officer Matt Parks has been with the Grand Junction Police Department since 2012. Officer Parks is currently assigned as a School Resource Officer. His collateral duties include SWAT operator, firearms instructor, and field training officer. Officer Parks served in the United States Navy as a combat medic prior to his employment with our agency.
Officer Chris Wilson has been with the Grand Junction Police Department since 2015. Officer Wilson is a field training officer and is also a member of our SWAT team. He currently serves as a patrol officer for our agency.
As is standard protocol with any officer involved shooting, these officers are currently on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of an internal investigation, which takes place separately from the criminal investigation being conducted by the 21st Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team.
