The Grand Junction Police Department is proud to recognize the invaluable contributions of its Property and Evidence Technicians during Property and Evidence Technicians Week, observed from April 7 through April 11, 2025.
In recognition of the crucial role these professionals play in law enforcement, Colorado Governor Jared Polis has signed a proclamation designating this week as Law Enforcement Property and Evidence Technicians Week. This proclamation acknowledges the vital behind-the-scenes work of these experts, who ensure the integrity of the justice system by safeguarding evidence and preserving the chain of custody.
At the Grand Junction Police Department, Property and Evidence Technicians not only manage evidence but also serve as Forensic Investigators, responding to major crime scenes. Their dedication is evident in the meticulous collection, preservation, and maintenance of evidence crucial to criminal investigations. In 2024 alone, the Property and Evidence Unit collected close to 22,000 pieces of evidence and property. Additionally, they oversee the management of digital evidence, including body-worn camera footage and other digital records, which amount to over 600,000 items.
“We are incredibly grateful for the hard work and dedication of our Property and Evidence Technicians,” said Trent Rundquist, Civilian Manager-Laboratory/Technology for the Grand Junction Police Department. “Their commitment to the highest standards ensures successful investigations and justice for victims of crime.”
The Grand Junction Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to these skilled professionals who play a critical role in ensuring justice for victims and accountability for offenders. Their dedication and expertise are essential to the safety of our community.
