On January 1, 2025, at approximately 11:05 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of an assault in progress at the Grand Manor Apartments located at 2828 Orchard Avenue.

The reporting party, a female resident, stated that a male suspect, in violation of a restraining order, forcibly entered her second-floor apartment and assaulted another male. During the altercation, the suspect produced a knife, and the female and male fled the apartment.

The suspect barricaded himself in the apartment as law enforcement arrived on scene. While officers attempted to make contact with him, a fire was ignited within the apartment. Shortly after, the suspect jumped out of a second-floor window on the east side of the apartment where officers promptly took him into custody.

The Grand Junction Fire Department extinguished the fire and transported the suspect to the hospital for treatment of serious bodily injuries sustained from the fire and fall. The male victim assaulted by the suspect was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Justin Vicino (age 44) was arrested on multiple unrelated warrants and Violation of a Protection Order, with additional charges pending.

The Grand Junction Police Department believes this to be an isolated incident with no ongoing danger to the public. This investigation remains active, and no further details are available at this time.
