Two Juveniles Arrested for Assault

On July 18, 2025, at approximately 4:15 p.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of a physical altercation near the intersection of N 7th Street and Bunting Avenue.

Through their investigation, officers learned that an adult male was walking southbound on N 7th Street when he was approached by a group of juveniles. The juveniles reportedly surrounded him and began verbally harassing him before physically assaulting him. When the adult attempted to defend himself, one of the juveniles threatened to brandish a firearm. The group then fled the scene on foot.

Responding officers quickly located and detained the individuals involved. Two 15-year-old juveniles were charged—one with Third Degree Assault and Felony Menacing, and the other with Third Degree Assault, Felony Menacing, and Obstruction. Both were transported to the Division of Youth Services.

The victim sustained minor injuries during the incident.

In accordance with the Colorado Open Records Act, the identities and any identifiable information of the individuals involved are being withheld due to their ages.

This appears to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains active, and no further information is available at this time.
