Officers with the Grand Junction Police Department were dispatched to a verbal disturbance in the 1300 block of Grand Avenue at approximately 7:00am on Wednesday, August 17. An adult female stated her adult son had assaulted her and would not let her leave the residence.
When officers arrived on scene they contacted the female subject who had minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The male subject was uncooperative and barricaded himself in the residence. Officers learned the male subject had multiple felony warrants for his arrest. A search warrant was issued for the residence after multiple verbal attempts to contact the male were made with no response. SWAT operators with the Grand Junction Police Department and the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to assist. A door to the residence was breached, and the male subject exited the residence and was detained. A shelter-in-place was issued for the surrounding areas and was lifted shortly after the incident.
Eric Marois, age 29, was arrested and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- 3rd Degree Assault
- False Imprisonment
- Multiple felony warrants out of Arapahoe County
Gretta Godfrey, age 64, was arrested on an unrelated warrant and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility.
The Grand Junction Police Department believes this to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to our community.
