GJPD Makes Early Morning Drug Arrest

Grand Junction, CO - On September 4, 2025, at approximately 4:50 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department were patrolling the 2800 block of North Avenue when they contacted individuals trespassing after hours.

Officers observed a vehicle parked on the north side of the Arc Thrift Store, located at 2830 North Avenue, and approached two individuals regarding the trespass. While speaking with one of them, the second individual entered a vehicle and fled at a high rate of speed. Officers quickly located the vehicle and suspect a short time later in the 1900 block of North Avenue.

The suspect initially provided false identifying information but was later confirmed to be 50-year-old Shariden Clare. During the investigation, officers located suspected drug paraphernalia and controlled substances inside the vehicle, ultimately seizing approximately 27 grams of suspected methamphetamine. A firearm was also recovered, which Clare was prohibited from possessing.

Clare was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Special Circumstances Defendant: Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance
  • False Reporting of Identifying Information
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Driving with a Revoked Driver’s License
  • No Insurance in Possession
  • Third Degree Criminal Trespass

This is believed to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. This incident remains under investigation, and no additional information is available at this time.
