The Grand Junction Police Department, dedicated to promoting safety and fostering stronger neighborhoods, is excited to announce that registration for National Night Out is now open. This year's event will take place on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Community members and organizations are encouraged to sign up their neighborhoods or groups for this nationwide event, which promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
National Night Out is an opportunity for residents to engage with local law enforcement agencies, learn about crime prevention strategies, and actively participate in building safer neighborhoods across the country. By registering and hosting an event, community members can gather and speak directly to local law enforcement personnel about issues they have questions or concerns about.
Kelly Clingman, Public Information Officer for the Grand Junction Police Department, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, "National Night Out is a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with the community we serve. Building strong relationships with our residents is essential to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for everyone."
The Grand Junction Police Department encourages all community members to register for National Night Out and actively participate in this important event. Registration is free! Interested individuals and organizations can register for National Night Out by visiting the Grand Junction Police Department website at https://www.gjcity.org/1118/National-Night-Out. Registration closes on August 1, 2024.
The GJPD National Night Out allows community members to customize events which encourage participation from their neighbors. In the past, neighborhoods have hosted barbeques, water games for kids, block parties, ice cream socials, or pizza parties. Once the individual or organization registers their National Night Out event, the Grand Junction Police Department will be sure to have personnel there to engage with residents and help build stronger, safer, and more resilient communities. The Grand Junction Police Department looks forward to meeting you!
