The Grand Junction Police Department is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the upcoming 2024 Community Police Academy. This unique program offers area residents an exclusive opportunity to gain insights into the daily operations of law enforcement, fostering stronger relationships between community members and the Grand Junction Police Department.
The Community Police Academy is an eight-week program designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the operations of the Grand Junction Police Department. This program combines classroom presentations, demonstrations, and simulated training scenarios on a variety of topics, including:
- Patrol Operations
- Drug Task Force
- Investigations
- Bomb Squad
- SWAT
- School Resource Officers
- Firearms Training Simulations
- Dispatch
- And so much more!
The Community Police Academy runs from March 28, 2024, through May 18, 2024, and is open to Mesa County residents aged 18 and older. Classes take place at the Grand Junction Police Department, located at 555 Ute Avenue, on Thursday evenings from 6-8:30 p.m., with the final class on Saturday, May 18.
