The City of Grand Junction officially launched a new website, www.gjcity.org in collaboration with CivicPlus, the website designer. This new website reflects the look and feel of the natural environment of Grand Junction, while incorporating a host of new features and tools designed to help residents and community partners quickly locate the information and services they need. As part of this redesign, the Grand Junction Police Department is excited to announce a Police Department specific section of the website, www.gjcity.org/police. This section of the website is devoted to police-related news, updates, and information.
“We are a leader in innovation and technology. It is imperative that our residents and visitors are able to easily access the information they need, and this website helps better facilitate that process,” said City Manager Greg Caton.
The new, service-focused website is mobile-friendly, secured for user privacy protection, and makes accessibility a priority. The site can be translated into any language with a “translation feature”, allowing the City to communicate with residents of all languages. The website is also ADA compliant.
“Launching a website that celebrates the diversity of our City was a priority to me and our staff. We now have a site that works for everyone,” said Caton.
The new website features a host of interactive functions, including:
- Notify Me which allows users to sign-up to be notified via email or text messages of emergencies, road closures, special events, agenda postings, and City or department related project updates.
- Form Center that allows users to submit requests and forms, such as Events/Education Requests, Traffic Complaints, and Patch Requests.
- A Feedback Center which will allow community members to report a concern or give a compliment about our department or staff.
The new website also features a revised communications platform called NewsFlash, which will provide the community with opportunities for users to read press releases and news happening at the Grand Junction Police Department and throughout the City. If you already subscribe to the Grand Junction Police Department’s current blog at grandjunctionpolicedepartment.com, you will automatically be subscribed to this new platform. Beginning November 19th, the community and media will no longer receive notifications about news regarding the Grand Junction Police Department through grandjunctionpolicedepartment.com, but instead can expect to see news notifications in your email from listserv@civicplus.com. If you would like to sign up to receive news regarding the Grand Junction Police Department, you can easily subscribe through our website or by clicking here.
As with any redesign launch, users may experience broken links or page errors as they navigate the new site. Please email gjpolicepio@gjcity.org to notify the Police Department of any technical issues encountered.
