On 8/28/24, at approximately 6:10 a.m., 911 dispatchers with the Grand Junction Regional Communications Center received a report of a stabbing which occurred in the area of Science Park located near Santa Clara Avenue and Lamp Lite Road. Officers arrived in the area to find the victim, an adult female, with an apparent stab wound. The victim was transported to the hospital by the Grand Junction Fire Department for treatment. The suspect fled the scene and was later identified as Ashley Nicoson, 26.
On 9/2/24, at approximately 5:30 a.m., 911 dispatchers with Grand Junction Regional Communications Center received a report advising Nicoson was back in the area of Santa Clara Avenue and Lamp Lite Road. Officers with the Grand Junction Police Department located Nicoson and took her into custody without incident. She was remanded to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- 1st Degree Assault with a Deadly Weapon
- Felony Menacing
- Tampering with Evidence
The Grand Junction Police Department is grateful to all members of the community that assisted in locating Nicoson. This is an ongoing investigation and there is no further information at this time.
