Trash & Dual Stream Recycling Program
The City of Grand Junction now features Dual Stream Recycling and Yard Waste Compost as part of its residential Trash Service. The City recognizes the importance of diverting recyclables and organics from the landfill and works to advance responsible resource stewardship.
Program rates are comparable to what customers are accustomed to paying for trash only service and offer a greater value. If customers recycle, they can reduce the size of their trash can, which results in a lower cost for trash service.

Service Options
The cost of trash and recycling collection services for the Trash & Dual Stream Recycling Program is dependent on the size of the trash can selected by the customer:
- Option #1 (48 gal.) is $16.00 per month
- Option #2 (64 gal.) is $22.00 per month
- Option #3 (96 gal.) is $35.00 per month
Two 64-gallon bins for dual stream recycling can be added for no additional charge. A 96-gallon yard waste bin may also be added for no additional charge.
Dual Stream Recycling Services
With Dual Stream recycling, customers sort all recyclables into two bins, or dual stream, for curbside collection. Collection of recyclable materials is performed by an automated truck which increases the number of households the City can service on a daily basis. To retain the value of the recyclables and accommodate the current facility, glass is currently NOT accepted curbside with the dual stream collection. Glass is accepted at the Recycling Drop Off Center at 333 West Avenue as well as several neighborhood glass-only drop sites. For more information on glass recycling locations, call 970-256-4136.
Automated recycling collection is replacing the multi-stream recycling service.
Yard Waste Compost Services
For residents in Dual Stream recycling areas, there is also an option to add a seasonal Yard Waste Compost bin at no additional charge. A 96-gallon bin will be provided by the City and serviced weekly from April through the end of October, on the same day as trash.
