Dual Stream Recycling is Now Available in Your Area!
Dear City of Grand Junction Trash customer,
Your residence resides within the area that is part of Phase 2 of the City’s Dual Stream Curbside Recycling Program that begins the week of September 11, 2023.
The city’s Dual Stream Recycling Program automates recycling pickup and offers residents within city limits recycling and trash pickup on the same day. Subscribe to Dual Stream Recycling service online or call 970-244-1570.
Residents participating in the Dual Stream Program may be able to lower costs by reducing the amount of trash they dispose of and increasing the amount of material being recycled. By reducing the amount of trash you throw away, you can reduce the size of your trash bin and lower your payment.
Trash and recycling will be collected for one price depending on the size of the trash bin: Option #1 (48 gallon) is $11.50 a month, Option #2 (64 gallon) is $15.75 a month, and Option #3 (96 gallon) is $25 a month.
If you decide to subscribe to the Dual Stream Recycling program, the city will provide two 64-gallon recycling bins; one for collecting plastic containers (#1, #2, and #5), and tin and aluminum cans, and another for paper, cardboard, and fiberboard. Glass will no longer be collected curbside due to the potential for breakage which then contaminates all the recycling material. Glass can be dropped off at the recycling center at 333 West Avenue and other locations throughout the city. Call 970-256-4136 for those specific glass recycling locations.
In addition to curbside recycling collection, for city residential customers participating in the new program, there is an option of having seasonal yard waste collected in a separate bin from April - October. Yard waste includes leaves, grass clippings, and small branches.
For customers who would like to learn more, the city will host three upcoming events:
- Thursday, August 3 from 4-6 p.m. in the Auditorium at City Hall, 250 N. 5th St.
- Thursday, August 8 from 4-6 p.m. at Spring Valley Park II, 2899 Beechwood St.
- Thursday, August 17 from 4-6 p.m. at Eagle Rim Park, 2736 Cheyenne Dr.
Dual Stream collection route maps are available on the City website. Service selection can be made by subscribing online or stopping by the city utilities office at 910 Main Street.
