At 12:40 PM Grand Junction Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle fire on the 2700 Block of B ¼ Road. Callers to 9-1-1 indicated a small bus was on fire near a structure. Additional callers reported explosions coming from the vehicle. When Engine 4 arrived on scene the crew reported that the vehicle was fully involved, and flames were threatening the structure. Crews worked quickly to contain the fire to the vehicle and to protect the nearby structures. The vehicle was quickly extinguished, and the home remained undamaged. There are no known injuries. The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.
GJFD responded with Ambulance 1, Ambulance 4, Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 4, Truck 1, and a Battalion Chief. Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist with traffic control.
