The Grand Junction Fire Department will begin construction of the new Fire Station 3 with a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday, August 24 at 10:00 a.m. in the parking lot south of the current Fire Station 3, located at 582 25 ½ Road. The new Fire Station 3 will replace the existing station that has been in service since 1975. The new facility will include modern safety upgrades which include cancer prevention features found in other existing fire stations.
Construction will remove available parking in the large lot next to Fire Station 3 during construction. The current station’s property will be converted into parking on completion of the project. Please avoid parking at Pomona Elementary School during construction, reserving these spaces for parents and staff. Construction vehicles will increase traffic along 25 1/2 Road during the project and you may want to consider taking an alternate route.
The Fire Department is working closely with the design team and FCI Constructors to keep community partners at Mesa County School District 51, and Monument Little League informed during construction.
