On Friday, December 13th at 7:18 PM, Grand Junction Fire Department responded to the 2900 block of Formay Avenue for reports of a kitchen fire. Everyone in the home had evacuated safely and a cat, dogs, chinchillas, and a bearded dragon were rescued, but the home suffered extensive damage. No injuries were reported.
Saturday, December 14th at 10:15 AM GJFD responded to the 2700 block of Patterson Road to a four-unit townhome complex. No injuries were reported, and crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to three of the units. At least one person is displaced.
The origin and cause of both fires are under investigation.
