At 8:16 PM the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire in a commercial storage facility on the 1000 block of Pitkin Avenue. Initial reports indicated that heavy smoke and flames were coming from a unit at the business and had possibly climbed into an attic space. The fire was extinguished by 8:27 PM and crews remained on scene to ensure that the fire had not spread to neighboring storage units. Two units were directly damaged by fire with potential smoke damage in others. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.
GJFD responded with Truck 1, Engine 3, Engine 4, Engine 5, Ambulance 7, and Battalion 1. The Grand Junction Police Department assisted with traffic control and scene safety.
