K-9

One of the most visible units at the Grand Junction Police Department is the beloved K-9 Unit. The Grand Junction Police Department currently has two K-9 teams: Officer Swetnam and K9 Brisa, and Officer Lopez and K9 Loki.

The GJPD K-9 teams deter criminal activity and assist the department in locating illegal drugs and finding missing persons. Properly trained and deployed K-9s have a direct impact on reducing crime in the areas where they are deployed.
