Insurance Service Office Rating

Map of Grand JunctionGrand Junction Fire Department (GJFD), which includes the City of Grand Junction, and the Grand Junction Rural Fire Protection District, received an improved community classification rating from the Insurance Service Office (ISO) effective July 1, 2015. A community's Public Protection Classification (PPC) rating depends on basic fire flow availability, emergency communications, Fire Department capabilities, and water supply distribution. The Grand Junction Fire Department received a primary rating of Class 2/2X.

Current ISO Ratings

  • PPC rating of 2 - This rating applies to all areas within five road miles of a GJFD fire station and within 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant.
  • PPC rating of 2X - This rating applies to all areas located beyond 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant, but are within five road miles of a GJFD fire station.
  • PPC rating of 10W - This rating applies to all areas located between 5 and 7 road miles of a GJFD fire station and has a credible water supply source (i.e. fire hydrant within 1,000 feet, Fire Department water tender operations).
  • PPC rating of 10 - This rating applies to all areas beyond seven road miles of a GJFD fire station.
