Fire Contained Near 970 Block of 23 Road

Grand Junction, Colo. — At approximately 1:35 p.m., the Grand Junction Fire Department and Lower Valley Fire District were dispatched to a wildland fire on the 970 block of 23 Road. The fire was reported to be crossing property lines and had advanced to within a quarter mile of nearby homes.

Crews from both agencies, along with Engine 126 from the Bureau of Land Management, responded and worked collaboratively to contain the fire. The fire is now fully contained.

There are no reported injuries to residents, responders, or livestock. The origin and cause of the fire are currently under investigation.
