Backyard Camper Trailer Fire Extinguished on Orchard Avenue

Fire News Posted on January 24, 2026

GRAND JUNCTION, CO — At approximately 4:00 p.m., the Grand Junction Fire Department was dispatched to a residence on the 2200 block of Orchard Avenue for a reported structure fire. A passerby called 9-1-1 after observing a fire involving a backyard shed or camper trailer.

Upon arrival, fire crews encountered access challenges due to narrow alleyways and a heavily congested backyard. Crews located a camper trailer fully involved, with limited space available for firefighters to safely approach. The fire was successfully extinguished, and Truck 1 conducted an aerial ladder operation to apply a large volume of water from above. This operation ensured the fire was completely extinguished and prevented extension to the significant fuel load in the backyard.

No injuries have been reported. The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.

The Grand Junction Police Department also provided traffic control and ensured the safety of multiple supply lines stretched across the roadway from nearby fire hydrants.
