The City of Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Department operates two community swimming pools in Grand Junction - the Lincoln Park-Moyer Pool and the Orchard Mesa Pool.

The Orchard Mesa Pool was built in 1983 as a partnership between Mesa County School District #51, who owns the land and the building, and Mesa County, who has historically split capital and operational costs with the City.  In 2023, the City commissioned the 2023 Orchard Mesa Recreation Facility study completed by pool designers, operational experts, architects and a variety of engineers led by the recreation facility architect OLC Corporation. Click here to review the final study.  These experts concluded the building is at the end of its useful life and requires full replacement of all major systems including filtration, HVAC, mechanical and electrical. The study then progressed through robust public engagement to create five different options for the future of the pool.  Click here to see more information on this process.  Each option was fully fleshed out including construction cost estimates.  The operational consultant, PROS Consulting, then projected operational revenue from fees, operational costs and participation levels (or level of service) for each option.  Mesa County has paid School District #51 $800,000 and exiting the partnership.  School District #51 and the City approved an agreement in August of 2024 to ensure the Orchard Mesa Pool will stay in operation until at least the new Community Recreation Center (CRC) is built at Matchett Park.  Click here to learn more about the CRC.

Orchard Mesa Pool is located at 2736 Unaweep Avenue, on the Orchard Mesa Middle School campus. Find more information (PDF) about both aquatics facilities, such as locker information, flotation device restrictions, and other facility-related information.
