National Night Out 2020 is happening!
During the evening of Tuesday, October 6th, residents in neighborhoods throughout the city will be gathering to get to know one another with a common goal of promoting neighborhood camaraderie to create safer communities. All Grand Junction neighborhoods who register their National Night Out events will be eligible to have an officer stop by their event to visit, share safety information, and answer questions.
Your National Night Out event can be as simple or as involved as you like! A barbeque in the front yard, an ice cream social in a neighborhood park, or a simple meet and greet on the front porch are all great ways to get to know your neighbors, open up a dialog with local law enforcement, and foster a sense of community to make your neighborhood a safer place! We are encouraging neighborhoods to follow all best public health practices when planning their NNO event. Small gatherings are best, with events held outdoors. If you plan to have food at your event, provide prepackaged items to grab and go, rather than dishes that require shared utensils. Consider wearing a masks and adhering to social distancing guidance. Most importantly, be sure to stay home if you're sick. Officers will be wearing masks during their visits to neighborhood events.
