Due to the warm winter weather, the City of Grand Junction Forestry Division recommends that residents water their trees to help maintain tree health. During prolonged dry periods from October through March, trees should be watered one to two times per month. Water only when temperatures are above 40 degrees and there is no snow cover.
The City of Grand Junction’s Parks Department will begin temporary watering operations in city parks this week. This proactive measure is designed to protect the community's valuable tree canopy and reduce environmental stress on plants before the spring growing season begins. These operations will continue for the next three to four weeks. Crews will be re-winterizing irrigation systems immediately after completing work at each location.
