Grand Junction, CO - On September 12, 2025, at approximately 8:15 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department were called to respond to a welfare check of an individual, armed with knives and a sword, at a residence located in the 500 block of 28 Road.
After several hours of communication with crisis negotiators, the Grand Junction Police Department SWAT team, with assistance from the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, made entry into the residence to safely take the individual into custody for a warrant. Upon entry, the individual was found deceased with an apparent self-inflicted injury.
The Mesa County Coroner’s Office will be responsible for releasing the identity of the deceased once appropriate notifications have been made.
There is no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains ongoing and there is no further information available at this time.
