On July 16, 2025, at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department were dispatched to St. Mary’s Hospital, located at 2635 N 7th Street, for a report of a male who had arrived after being stabbed.
Through investigation, officers learned that two males with an ongoing dispute became involved in a physical altercation near the area of N 7th Street and Center Avenue. During the altercation, the suspect, who was known to the victim, brandished a knife and stabbed the male multiple times before fleeing the scene on foot. The victim then walked to the hospital, where he was admitted and treated for injuries.
The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Daniel Rodden, was later contacted by officers in the area of 28 ¾ Road and North Avenue. Rodden was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where he was booked in for committing the crime of Assault in the First Degree.
The Grand Junction Police Department believes this was an isolated incident. No further information is available at this time.
