CORRECTION: The initial media release regarding the fatal vehicle vs pedestrian stated the vehicle was turning left when it struck a pedestrian. That is not correct. The vehicle was traveling eastbound when it struck the pedestrian.

First responders from the Grand Junction Police Department and Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a vehicle vs pedestrian crash at the intersection of N 12th Street and North Avenue on 09/02/24, at approximately 9:35 p.m. A vehicle was turning east when it struck a pedestrian. Life saving measures were attempted but the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries and died on scene. The Mesa County Coroner’s Office will be responsible for releasing the identity of the decedent after appropriate notifications have been made. This crash is under investigation and there is no additional information available at this time.
