Grand Junction, CO – On January 3, 2026, at approximately 3:25 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department were dispatched to a reported weapon call in the 200 block of Lauralee Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers determined an adult male had been waving a firearm inside an occupied residence. Other occupants of the home were able to safely exit while officers worked to contact the suspect. The suspect was safely detained, and the firearm was secured.
No injuries were reported during this incident.
30-year-old Nathaniel Casper was arrested and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where he was booked on the following charges:
- Felony Menacing (two counts)
- Reckless Endangerment (ten counts)
- Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender
- Prohibited Use of a Weapon
- Child Abuse (three counts)
This incident is believed to be isolated, with no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.
