Update on December 17 Walmart Incident

Grand Junction, CO - On December 17, 2025, officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of a male harassing employees and customers in the parking lot of Walmart, located at 2881 North Avenue.

Upon arrival and while contacting the suspect, the individual assaulted two Grand Junction Police Officers. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for evaluation of injuries. The two officers were also transported to the hospital for treatment.

The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Bobby McCarley, was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility after being released from the hospital. McCarley was booked on an outstanding warrant and the following additional charges:

  • Second Degree Assault on Peace Officer (2 counts)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Obstructing a Peace Officer
  • Second Degree Burglary of Retailer
  • Theft
  • Menacing

Both officers sustained serious bodily injuries and have since been released from the hospital.
