GRAND JUNCTION, CO — At approximately 1:00 p.m., the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of a small fire in an unoccupied home on the 2600 block of Sacoma Court.
A plumber working inside the residence called 9-1-1 after a fire ignited within a wall, believed to be caused by the heat from soldering pipes. Firefighters arrived on scene, located the fire, and confirmed that it had not extended further into the walls or ceiling. Damage to the structure was limited, though light smoke damage was reported throughout the home. No injuries occurred.
This incident highlights the importance of calling the fire department anytime a fire occurs, no matter how small, to ensure it is fully extinguished and not at risk of rekindling.
The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation. The Grand Junction Police Department assisted with traffic control and scene safety.
