In recognition of the essential role law enforcement records and data professionals play in maintaining public safety, the Grand Junction Police Department is proud to celebrate Law Enforcement Records Personnel Week, observed November 2 to 8, 2025.
This annual observance provides an opportunity to express appreciation for the dedicated individuals who work diligently behind the scenes to ensure the integrity and security of law enforcement records in compliance with federal and state regulations. Their efforts are crucial to the success of every investigation and the overall effectiveness of the justice system.
Each of the eight Records Specialists with the Grand Junction Police Department holds Master Certification through the Colorado Certified Records Network and possesses expert knowledge of the Colorado Open Records Laws. This team processes an average of 10,000 cases annually, and in 2024, scanned over 31,000 documents and fulfilled over 5,000 open records requests.
Often working outside the spotlight, these professionals are the backbone of accurate, confidential, and timely recordkeeping, ensuring that every investigation, report, and case file reflects the integrity and reliability our community depends on.
Please join the Grand Junction Police Department in recognizing and thanking its Records Specialists for their exceptional service and unwavering dedication to our community today and every day.
