Dear Community Members,
The City of Grand Junction Forestry Division recently sent out a survey regarding Urban Forestry Management and over 500 surveys were completed. Thank you to all the community members who participated and provided insight for the Urban Forestry Management Plan.
Whether you participated in the survey or would still like to provide input on the plan, the City of Grand Junction Forestry Division is hosting two upcoming events for the community to learn more about the goals, strategies, and details of the Urban Forestry Management Plan that is currently under development.
An open house is planned for Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Park Stadium 910 N. 12 St. in the Hospitality Suite located on the fourth floor. In addition, a virtual event will be held online on Monday, February 27, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. Both events will begin with a brief presentation followed by opportunities for attendees to ask questions. Maps and other information will also be made available.
The results of the survey will be shared at the open house events and incorporated into the final plan. As the next step in developing the Forestry Plan, these workshops will offer opportunities for the community to provide additional input regarding concerns and priorities about trees as well as ask questions and learn more about such topics as canopy coverage, water constraints, pests/diseases, and hazards, and the management of public trees. All community members are welcome to attend the events. More information. For questions call 970-254-3849
