The City of Grand Junction has begun construction on four new tennis courts on the east side of Canyon View Park adjacent to 24 ½ Road. Construction crews have moved equipment into the large dirt lot and have fenced off the active construction zone. Parking is recommended in the lot northwest of the existing tennis courts or in the lot northwest of the baseball field. The project is anticipated to be completed in July.
This phase of the Tennis and Pickleball expansion project comes after the installation of LED lights at the existing tennis courts at Canyon View was completed in January. The expansion project, which encompasses work at Canyon View Park and Lincoln Park, is expected to be completed in the fall of 2023. The total project cost is approximately $2 million.
The tennis and pickleball expansion project is one of the priorities outlined in the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Master Plan for the Parks and Recreation system.
