On 02/17/23, at approximately 6:00pm, officers with the Grand Junction Police Department received reports of an assault which occurred in the 700 block of Noland Avenue in Grand Junction, Colorado. It was reported an adult male assaulted a woman living in the same residence. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a subject who had suffered bodily injury, and was transported to the hospital for medical treatment with non-life-threatening injuries. The Grand Junction Police SWAT team and deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to assist in contacting the suspect, who was later identified as Steven Kumm, age 58. Entry was made into the residence, but Mr. Kumm was not located. Mr. Kumm was contacted the following day, 02/18/23, and taken into custody. Mr. Kumm was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on an Arrest Warrant for the following charges:
- Attempted First Degree Assault
- Second Degree Assault
- Obstructing a Peace Officer
- Domestic Violence
The Grand Junction Police Department believes this to be an isolated incident. Investigation is ongoing and there is no further information at this time.
