Visit Grand Junction (Visit GJ), the City of Grand Junction’s Destination Marketing Organization (DMO), is pleased to announce that Grand Junction has been selected for inclusion in The New York Times list of “52 Places to Go” in 2023. Grand Junction was selected for its beautiful landscapes, incredible outdoor adventure assets, and lack of crowds as an alternative over other visited parks and destinations.

Each year, the “52 Places to Go” list focuses on a different theme. The 2023 list spotlights travel’s global rebound and the drive to explore the world asking the question, “Why do we travel?” The list highlights destinations rich in food, culture, adventure, natural beauty and more, all of which can be found in Grand Junction.

The Grand Junction inclusion mentions area assets including McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area and the second-largest concentration of natural arches in the country in Rattlesnake Canyon, hiking in Colorado National Monument, area mountain bike trails including the Palisade Plunge and concludes with, “All trails lead back to downtown Grand Junction, filled with shops, craft breweries, locavore restaurants and wine-tasting rooms from area vineyards.”

The “52 Places to Go” in 2023 list was posted to The New York Times online today and is expected to run in print in the New York Times Sunday travel section this Sunday, January 15, 2023.
