City of Grand Junction Projects with Travel Restrictions

Fire Station 8 Fiber Project - D Road Between 29 Road and 30 Road

  • Possible Intermittent lane closures during normal work hours
  • Expect moderate delays
  • Anticipated completion: mid-September

Replacing trees within the Riverside Parkway median adjacent to Las Colonias Park

  • Both west and eastbound lanes of Riverside Parkway will be closed between 9th St. & D Rd. Sunday, Sept. 11 only
  • A detour Route will be in place
  • Access to Las Colonias Park will be provided

Non-City of Grand Junction Projects with Travel Restrictions

U.S. 6 & North Avenue Median & Resurfacing Project – CDOT

  • The current work zone intermittently stretches from 23rd St. to 1st St. 
  • Crews continue concrete curb and median work on US 6/North Ave. from 12th St. to 1st St. 
  • Boring and potholing at 5th St. Median cover installation takes place from 23rd St. to 12th St. 
  • Hot mix asphalt (HMA) patching continues from 23rd St. to 12th St. As the project progresses, the team continues to encounter drivers not slowing through the work zone. 
  • Motorists are encouraged to be respectful and not cut through businesses to circumnavigate the construction work. 
  • Please be aware of workers in the “cone zone'' and be respectful of their safety.
  • Motorists should expect minimal delays through the work zone. The posted speed limit through the work zone is reduced to 20 mph during working hours 7 p.m. - 7 a.m in several locations on the project.
  • One lane of travel in each direction on US 6 North Avenue will always be maintained. Through lanes will be the outside travel lanes on North Avenue while median construction is being performed. Some limited daytime work is possible. Drivers should anticipate some restrictions to left-hand turn movements within the work zone.
  • There is a 10’ width restriction in place for freight and commercial vehicles during working hours. Freight and CMV are encouraged to use alternate routes around the project limits.
  • Utility work in the area is ongoing and will be taking place throughout the day.

Coulson Ave. (17 Rd.) and K ¾ Rd. intersection, Utility Construction – City of Fruita

  • Asphalt paving will take place Thursday, Sept. 22 thru Saturday, Sept. 24
  • Anticipated completion: Sept. 23

337 Colorado Ave.- Melrose Hotel Renovation Project

  • Colorado Ave. between 3rd St. and 4th St. will be closed to through traffic starting Monday, Sept. 12
  • Anticipated completion: Sept. 28

I-70 Ramp Safety Maintenance Project – CDOT

  • Night work (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Sunday nights through Thursday nights for approximately the next three weeks
  • I-70 exit ramp closures will start Sun. Sept. 18 beginning at exit 2 eastbound (Rabbit Valley) and continue east ending at exit 205 (Silverthorne)
  • Exit ramp closures will only take place at night
  • Only one exit ramp will be closed at a time for approximately one hour each
  • Detour routes for ramp closures will be in place
  • Anticipated completion: early October

  • Starting Monday, Sept. 19, 23 Road will be closed to through traffic between H Road and I Road
