[ARCHIVED] aRT Mural Program Showcases 11 Artists and 12 New Murals Along the Riverfront Trail

The Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture has chosen 11 artists to paint 12 murals at multiple locations along the Riverfront Trail as part of the aRT Mural program. Artists will be painting Saturday, September 17 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.  The community is invited to attend and watch the artists in action at the following locations:

  • Kasia Kucera: 5th Street Underpass (5th and Struthers)
  • Jeremy Velasquez: 5th Street Underpass 
  • Cierra Applegate: 5th Street Underpass
  • Almost Paints/Joe Anderson: Redlands Parkway #1 and #2
  • Wes Abarca: Ridges 1 (CO-340 W/Broadway, right before Canary Lane)
  • Sarah Wandzilack: Ridges 2
  • Sam Ontiveros: No Thoroughfare South (under Hwy 340 and Monument Road)
  • Mia Stone: No Throughfare N.
  • Rachel Osborne: Highway 340 E.
  • Heidl Hasenauer: Highway 340 S.
  • Jonathan Purdy: Highway 340 N.

“Through aRT, we can expand the opportunities to experience and appreciate art throughout our community while also providing spaces to nurture the creativity of local artists,” stated Ken Sherbenou, Parks and Recreation director. “The aRT Mural program is designed to transform underpasses along the Riverfront Trail into vibrant, colorful artistic expressions that enhance the trail users’ experience.” 

aRT is a fluid process with murals changing bi-annually, bringing new and fresh designs to the Riverfront Trail. 

The Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture is dedicated to developing the quantity, quality, and affordability of arts and culture for the Grand Junction area.
