At 3:56 AM this morning Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of a home fire on the 600 block of Highway 50 with one person unable to evacuate. Grand Junction Police officers in the area were able to quickly get to the scene and rescue the single occupant from the burning home. Fire crews arrived as the victim was being removed from the home and were able to quickly provide care. The patient was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. No other injuries were reported. Fire crews found heavy smoke coming from the home and were able to extinguish the blaze. The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.
GJFD responded with Ambulance 1, Ambulance 3, Ambulance 4, Truck 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 4, Truck 6, and a Battalion Chief. GJPD also responded to the incident with nearby officers, providing initial rescue efforts.
