[ARCHIVED] Fireworks Update

The City of Grand Junction would like to provide the community with an update regarding fireworks displays at the Lincoln Park stadium. The City, along with its many community partners understand that the park is adjacent to quiet residential neighborhoods, and that noise levels are rightfully a major concern of many who live nearby. The noise impact from the JUCO game on Memorial Day had a negative impact on sleeping residents including their animals. This includes the many residents who had to work the next day. Given this, the City, working with its partners, is taking action to avoid this situation in the future.

The partner that has the most shows is GJ Rockies, who also program fireworks displays into their game schedule. To minimize the impacts of fireworks on these surrounding areas, the City worked closely with the GJ Rockies to move the starting time for games this season earlier in the evening. Games will start at 6:05 p.m., which will ensure that the fireworks show does not occur later than 10:30 p.m. Also, to further minimize negative impacts, the GJ Rockies will hold fewer fireworks shows overall as well as reduce the size of shells used to cut down on noise.

The following is the 2021 fireworks schedule for the GJ Rockies:

2021 Schedule of Special Fireworks Events

  • Friday, June 11        GJ Rockies Fireworks Night
  • Friday, June 25        GJ Rockies Fireworks Night
  • Sunday, July 4        Fireworks Following the Rockies Game (led by the City of GJ)
  • Friday, July 23        GJ Rockies Fireworks Night
  • Friday, August 6        GJ Rockies Fireworks Night
  • Friday, August 20    GJ Rockies Fireworks Night

The City wants to thank its residents for their support of events in and around Lincoln Park. If residents have any questions, please contact the Parks & Recreation Office at 254-3866.
