[ARCHIVED] Become a Trail Host with Grand Junction Parks & Recreation

Trail Hosts group picture

Grand Junction Parks & Recreation is looking for volunteers to participate in our Trail Host program. As the temperatures start to warm up, parks and recreation sees an increase in trail usage, and more volunteers are needed to help keep the trails safe.  Pictured above is the current crew of volunteers committed to making Grand Junction a better place.

In existence for over 25 years, the Trail Host program gives ordinary citizens the opportunity to do something significant for their community. The top priorities of a Trail Host include reporting concerns, assisting trail users, and helping to keep the amazing Riverfront Trail a friendly place for all users. This program works closely with many local agencies in addition to Grand Junction Parks and Recreation including One Riverfront, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Animal Control, the Grand Junction Police Department, the larger City of Grand Junction organization, and Mesa County. Volunteers are required to spend roughly two hours per week out on the trail and can work in any area convenient to them. If you enjoy being outside, nature, and talking to people about all the great things our community has to offer, this could be a great fit for you!

For more information, please contact Recreation Coordinator, Lorie Gregor at lorieg@gjcity.org or 970-254-3876. An application and background check are required. Monthly training meetings are the first Wednesday of the month from 12:00 P.M. – 1:00 P.M. from March through October.
