2021 CDBG Program Year Applications Open

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) is a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) program that provides Federal dollars to our community.

As an entitlement community the City of Grand Junction has received a Federal allocation of CDBG funds directly from Congress since it became eligible in 1996. The City grants the funds directly to qualified local entities and non-profit organizations. The funds are to be used to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons.

To be eligible for the funds, the City adopts a 5-Year Consolidated Plan every five years that sets forth goals and priorities for expenditure of the funds in the community. In each intervening year, the City solicits applications and City Council allocates the funding. City Council adopts an Annual Action Plan that specifically describes the projects and programs which will be accomplished through expenditure of the CDBG funds. At the end of each program year, the City produces the Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) that summarizes annual accomplishments of the CDBG program.

Applications for the City of Grand Junction 2021 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program are now available. The Federal funds may be used for a variety of capital and human services projects carried out by non-profit agencies serving primarily low- and moderate-income persons in the City limits. Applications are available online and are due by 5:00 P.M. March 22, 2021.  For additional information call 970-244-1491 or email comdev@gjcity.org.
