The City of Grand Junction, in partnership with School District 51, is hosting the high school state marching band competition today, October 27, at Stocker Field in Lincoln Park. Thousands of spectators and students from across Colorado are attending what is expected to be one of the largest events ever held in Lincoln Park.
High schools have brought 48 buses and 64 trucks and trailers for the competition, so attendees should expect limited parking and higher noise levels in the surrounding area throughout the day.
Due to the size of the event, all other activities in Lincoln Park, including the pickleball courts, are closed today. The Lincoln Park Golf Course is the only part of the park that remains open to the public.
