The City of Grand Junction Water Department will temporarily drain Shadow Lake (also known as Gardner Lake) starting the week of January 18th in order to perform maintenance to the outlet valve and catwalk structure. Shadow Lake is located along Ridges Blvd. and Mariposa Drive near the Redlands Mesa Golf Course.
Inspection work is expected to start as soon as the lake is fully drained, which could be as soon as February 1st. It will take approximately two weeks to completely drain and one week to re-fill the lake. Crews anticipate having Shadow Lake back to full capacity by President’s Day weekend.
Residents who live near Shadow Lake may notice slight odors once it’s drained, due to organic material that has settled to the bottom of the lake. Please note that any odors are temporary and will dissipate once the lake is filled back up. The colder winter temperatures should help keep the odors to a minimum.
This work will not interfere with traffic or the hiking path around the perimeter of Shadow Lake.
