At 6:44 AM Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of a roof on fire at a home on the 2300 block of Broadway. Residents of the home called the fire in and were able to safely evacuate two people and three dogs by the time crews arrived. The crew that entered the home found active fire in the attic and walls of the home, while arriving crews supplied water from their engines and shut off utilities to ensure the safety of those inside. No injuries are reported from the blaze, but the home sustained substantial damage and the family is temporarily displaced.

GJFD responded with Ambulance 1, Engine 1, Engine 3, Engine 5, Truck 6, a water tender, a Battalion Chief, and fire investigator. The origin and cause of the fire are currently under investigation.
