During a regular meeting on December 2, City Council approved the 2021 Annual Budget. This action culminates a six-month process involving work from 11 departments, over 30 employees, and approximately 3,000 hours.

The 2021 Adopted Budget totals $213 million and includes capital investment in transportation, utility infrastructure, improvements to the Lincoln Park Stadium, and $10 million in new First Responder Tax spending for the construction of Fire Station 8 and the addition of new public safety positions in the Police and Fire departments. The 2021 Adopted Budget authorizes 708 full-time employees. The majority of these employees are in public safety operations serving the community 24 hours per day, every day.
“The 2021 Adopted Budget is the culmination of the hard work of City Council and staff over several months,” Mayor Duke Wortmann stated. “The document is directly aligned with the strategic vision of the City Council, which makes it a robust plan for the City in 2021. Many of the projects included in this budget represent the City delivering on our first responder and transportation infrastructure promises to the community.”
