Officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of a felony menacing which occurred at a business on the 1300 block of North Avenue on 09/26/23, at approximately 11:10 p.m. A male, suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and illicit drugs, asked a group of customers for “shrooms” and threatened them with a knife. Shortly after, the male left the store on a bicycle and was later contacted by officers in the area of 2600 Belford Avenue, where he had harassed another group of people. Officers arrested the male, later identified as Brandon Watchman (age 29), and remanded him to the Mesa County Detention Facility where he was charged with the following:
- Menacing Real/Simulated Weapon (six counts)
- Harassment (three counts)
- Disorderly Conduct
- Protection Order Violation (two counts)
The Grand Junction Police Department believes this to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community. There is no further information and booking photo available at this time.
