Officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to the 900 block of Main Street, at approximately 12:05 AM on 08/21/23, for a report of a male threatening a dog with a knife. The reporting party stated two intoxicated males approached him and asked if he had any cigarettes or alcohol. One of the suspects became upset when the reporting party answered no, pulling out a knife on the reporting party’s dog before turning and leaving the area. The two male suspects were contacted by Grand Junction Police Officers a short time later and taken into custody.
Cody Yazzie (age 31) was charged with the following:
- Felony Menacing
- Intimidating a Witness or Victim
- Assault in the Third Degree
- Obstructing a Peace Officer
- Resisting Arrest
Cory Yazzie (age 31) was charged with the following:
- Resisting Arrest
- Obstructing a Peace Officer.
The two men were remanded to the Mesa County Detention Facility. The Grand Junction Police Department believes this to be an isolated incident. There is no further information available at this time.
