GJPD Traffic Stop Leads to Multiple Drug Charges

Grand Junction, CO - On November 21, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department conducted a traffic stop that led to multiple drug-related charges.

Officers stopped a vehicle for expired registration. GJPD K9 Loki was deployed to conduct a sniff of the vehicle and alerted officers to the presence of an illicit narcotic. During a search, officers seized over 49 grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Jesse Austin, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Distribution/Manufacture/Possession with Intent to Distribute > ½ oz–1/2 lb of Schedule I/II Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I/II Illegal Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • No Insurance in Possession
  • Expired License Plates/Registration
  • Driving on a Suspended License

This is believed to be an isolated incident with no ongoing danger to the public. The case remains under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
