GJPD Conducting Death Investigation on 28 ½ Road

Grand Junction, CO - On September 23, 2025, at approximately 11:50 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a welfare check. A reporting party requested a welfare check on an individual who had not reported to work in several days.

Officers arrived at a residence located in the 400 block of 28 ½ Road and observed two unresponsive individuals. Upon entry of the home, officers discovered a deceased female with an apparent gunshot wound and a deceased male with a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Detectives with the Grand Junction Police Department are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths. At this time, this appears to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public.

The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives continue to interview witnesses and collect evidence. The Mesa County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death and release the identities of the deceased once next-of-kin notifications have been made.
