On July 20, 2025, at approximately 11:55 p.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of harassment in progress on the 2900 block of Bookcliff Avenue.
Through their investigation, officers learned that a male suspect had thrown a rock through the window of a woman’s home and made additional threats to damage property. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Eric Valdez, fled the area before officers arrived.
On the afternoon of July 21, officers located Valdez’s vehicle at a residence on the 1300 block of White Avenue and confirmed he was inside the house. When officers attempted contact, Valdez initially refused to comply and barricaded himself in the home.
The Grand Junction Police Department’s SWAT Team was deployed, and a shelter-in-place was issued for nearby residents. A short time later, Valdez surrendered without further incident.
Valdez was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on charges including Harassment, Domestic Violence, and Criminal Mischief, with additional charges pending.
