In November of 2005, the passage of a School District 51 bond changed the face of Grand Junction Parks and Recreation giving the department a once-in-a-lifetime chance to positively impact the community.

Following in line with the City of Grand Junction strategic plan for developing vital neighborhoods, the department took an opportunity to partner with School District 51. Out of that unique partnership came Bookcliff Activity Center, a 10,000 square foot facility located next to the new Bookcliff Middle School. This fully operational activity center houses such activities as: fitness and wellness; enrichment, after school, athletics, drop in, family, early childhood, and more!
